Hard cider
Right around 6 months ago I pressed apples with this rusty old thing (see left) that I found in the shed next to a dried up dead opossum (don't worry I cleaned it). You wouldn't think that grinding up rotten apples and worms would make a good brew but I gotta tell ya I took a swig out of the carboy last weekend and this stuff is very reminiscent of the pub draft cider my wife and I had while vacationing in Ireland. Our local home brew shop has a quite extensive selection of wines, beers, and ciders problem is most of the ciders that can be purchased in the states are either too dry or too sweet and never have that good bit of tartness. My wife isn't a beer drinker never the less I'm always trying to get her to try my brews in the hopes that some day she will partake with me (don't like drinking alone). I think I have a winner with this cider too bad I only made 5 gallons, with two of us I think it'll go fast. On the home brew forum everyone is always talking about Edwort's Apfelwein so I may give the recipe a whirl especially since it is easy, uses store bought juice, and is cheap. Honestly I'll be disappointed if it's as good as what I made from our apples cause damn that was a lot of work but then again I can't complain if Ed's cider is good I'll just have to make more. UPDATE the coffee porter is tasting fairly good after just 3 weeks, very drinkable, light aroma of coffee, and a slightly hoppy finish.
Clarifying: Hard Cider (aged 6 months)
Next up: First attempt at an all grain, thinking a chocolate espresso stout
